As the statutory body for professional accountants in Hong Kong, the Institute is committed to ensuring that the next generation of members is equipped with outstanding professional skills to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The Institute’s Qualifying Programme (QP), designed to nurture the next generation of accountants, adopts a competency-based curriculum, requires a university degree, and implements a system of recognized practical experience with approved employers and approved supervisors. The international recognition of this professional qualification enabled the Institute to successfully conclude mutual membership recognition agreements with seven major global chartered accountancy bodies (ICAA, ICAEW, ICAI, ICANZ, ICAS, ICAZ, and SAICA) in 2002, benefiting its QP graduates. Enclosed are press releases from both bodies dated Monday, June 21st. This agreement will significantly enhance the Institute’s future technical, training, and other member support services. This collaboration, combined with the Institute’s name and membership title change, will enable the vast majority of its members to hold both the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Accountant (CA) designations.
